This tragedy happened about an hour or so South of here. Be careful out there!

Hunter Found Dead in Stand

The chances are more than you think, we had a 14 year old boy killed a week ago. found in his tree stand with gunshot , his gun was also found at the base of the tree, with a rope tied to it.

I have heard of 2 hunters here in Illinois that fell to their death from tree stands. BE CAREFUL!!!

Statistics show that one of three hunters using a tree stand will experience a fall. 1 in 3!!! My hunting partner just got out of the nursing home, from a two month rehab, after falling from his stand and shattering both femurs. He was unable to get to his ATV (where the phone was) for nearly 5 hrs even though it was close by...likely kept passing out form the pain.
