A good day for me

Post by xbowholic »

Today {30th of November} marked my 50th birthday; I have had a WONDERFUL life and couldn't ask for any greater blessings; a wife of 31 years now, 2 beautiful daughters that one is a colledge professor and the other is a RN, a wonderful son-in-law and 2 of the most beautiful grandchildren any grandfather could ask for;

As I sat in the ground blind today (no deer today), I really took the extra time to thank the good Lord for 50 of the best years that anyone could have; PLEASE never forget how blessed we all are to be able to hunt, fish and be in the great outdoors; killing deer is just an extra bonus and I have killed a doe and a 6 point thus far; so the freezer is full, plenty of firewood for those winter nights and as I sit and listen to the oak "pop" in the fireplace and smell the sweet smoke that it puts out, it only reminds me of the great hunts of the past and hopefully some more to come with those precious grandkids in the blind with me;

Life is truly wonderful........ :D

I'll be 45 soon and couldn't have said it better myself!

Happy birthday and I wish you many, many more enjoyable ones in a deer blind!
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4

Happy birthday buddy! The 50's are great years. Ask me how I know...Enjoy every minute of 'em.

I believe our greatest legacy, is the effect we have on other people.

:wink: Fine words my friend. This past season I too was able to harvest a doe and a fine 8 point buck.

It is amazing the quiet time spent in a blind or a stand.

Life here is also excellent. Family doing fine, and I can live vicariously thru them and the grandkids.

Age here is 78 and I am already looking forward to next season.

Thanks for you inspiration.
