Yes the flat ones are required. Some grind the plastic ones flat. I guess you could orient the groved nocks for string contact on the Excalibur deck...donno...never tried it, why take a chance.

The moon nocks can cause a semi-dryfire if not properly oriented. Why chance it when flat nocks are readily available?
Using a point insert for the nock works fine for me.

That's the insert used at the front of the arrow to screw the field tip or bradhead into.
They are commonly used for nocks.

DUH!! I say.

Thanks, I was not thinking,

Has there been testing to show if the nock/ point insert is better or worse than a "Flat Solid" plastic or metal nock?? Even the slightest changes and make eventhe slightest changes.

No difference the way I see it. Only difference might be the weight of the different inserts which might affect your FOC.

My components knowledge is limited to GT's, which are all I shoot. Al nocks are 22 gr and
al inserts 32 gr. 10 gr diff won't do much to FOC, but the inserts are easier to cut down, believe some have posted around 7 gr when cut.

As Usual Awshucks is right on the Money with his quote. But, also the hole in the insert comes in very handy if you have to remove the Nock.
