Big Bux - A True Ontario Giant!

Post by CDN Taxman »

For those of you who don't know......

Big Bux is a glorious deer who consistently showed up in the back yard of a professional photography for seven years. He was huge the first year (estimated 20 points) and was probably about three and half years old then. So, the deer was probably 10 years old and still truly magnificant.

This year, they extended the season by two weeks and he was finally harvested. I have some pictures of this year as well as many others and will post some of them later on!

A great trophy, but seeing him alive was almost as good as seeing him on your wall!

No...a friend of his neighbour did, in that neighbour's backyard. TAC would never have shot this deer, since TAC was able to get so close to him without the deer even caring in the first place.

That person definitely doesn't have a 'hunting story' to tell...they just have a 'shooting story'. If this deer had been dropped anywhere but an area in which it seemed to care less about the humans that inhabited it (he only showed up after the snow fell every year), then it would make for a better story. Worn out from the rut and looking for food, he always seemed to return to the same area, where TAC's neighbour fed the deer during the Winter year after year. Too bad this year someone waited to put an arrow through him when he came to the same feeder he had come to for years without being in danger.

Personally, I see it hard to blame the hunter for shooting this buck. If the photographer and his neighbors hadn't been feeding it, it wouldn't have kept coming around every year. IMO, they did more to ensure the buck would have an untimely death than the hunter did.

Kinda like that Giant Black Bear in PA that was posted here a week or so ago. It had been fed by humans year after year and then everyone wants to cry a river over it after it was lawfully killed.
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4
