Thanks to the wonderful person....

Post by VixChix »

Some wonderful, anonymous person booked a hunt for me with Ken "UncleFester". If all goes as planned this Saturday morning I'll be sitting in one of Ken's stands watching the sun come up (and hopefully also watching the deer wander into the shooting lanes.) :D

I've asked several people if they've been involved with setting up this surprise, but so far no one has owned up. For the last few weeks it's been driving me crazy as I couldn't thank anyone for this gift.

So, if you are the person (or persons) who set this up THANK YOU for your generosity! I'm surprised, overwhelmed and deeply grateful!

I know that come Saturday, deer or no deer, I'll be enjoying every moment in the woods. I've had the privilege of turkey hunting with Ken this past spring and couldn't have asked for a better experience. He takes his hunting very seriously, but he's also got a great sense of humour. He's the kind of person who puts you at ease from the very first moment. I look forward to learning whatever I can from him on Saturday. Thank you Ken for arranging all of this!

And while I'm on the topic of being able to hunt with others, I'd also like to thank Kevin "DoeMaster", his Dad "Old Buck", and his brother "CloseUp" for letting me crash their hunts a couple of times this season. I appreciate their willingness to share their set-ups, their knowledge, and their stands.

I'd also like to thank my husband for the freedom to get out and hunt. He's never given me any grief for going out either alone or with other guys. He's always been 100% supportive. I very much appreciate it that and I don't take it for granted. Thanks Tim!

I guess this is starting to sound a bit like an awards show, but I'd also like to thank the Excalibur forum family for all the friendships here that have enriched my life. I know I might never actually meet most of you, but this has been a great place to hang my hat these past few years. I know I've said this before but I can't say it often enough - it's wonderful to find a hunting forum that a gal can feel welcome in.

Both you and Tim are on my 'to get out' list turkey hunting this Spring. I have a few people in mind when I start scouting birds in early April.

Pffffffffffft...yeah, like those are going to phase me.

You should ask my friend Garry (wingedwonder, on a few forums) about getting him his first Tom last year. I watched him strut all the way across a field...into 25 yards...and finally had to turn to him and say: "Will you shoot that (expletive) bird already!" He was waiting for me to give him the go-ahead like we were on some Primos show.

Had to tell my father-in-law the same thing. I have the video to prove it. I told him to shoot the bird...he told me to shoot the bird...I had to tell him to shoot the damn bird!!! He finally shot the bird.

I love watching other people harvest animals...and having some fun in the process.

Had a gobbler working last year and should have sat longer for Tim...just got antsy...and then the wind picked up.

I have sticky-notes to put on two gobblers this year.
