RACK REPORT - Deer of the dead - more pics

Post by Mr. Dynamite »

RACK REPORT for the weekend

FRI:
saw a buck Fri night in a field, still had both his antlers

SAT:
There was an article in the London Free Press about 2 weeks ago about some deer that live in a cemetery in London. Had to go check it out. Also conveniently worked as my weekly check-up on shedding progress. One 8pt and a bunch of does. One deer that looked like it was a small shed buck.

As we got ready to leave these ladies came out with a sweet Canon 400 zoom and a bag of cut up apples and lettuce. As soon as she shook the bag they came running right up to her and stood 10 feet away as they tossed them apples and took pictures. She got some really nice ones of the buck.

Very nice pictures.
An interesting place that they have chosen to hang out??

The Deer seem to hide pretty good in between the grave markers

They need to put a fence around that graveyard......the deer are just "dying" to get in there.

I wasn't using either. I was just using my little waterproof point and click. It is a decent camera and takes some good pictures, but it only has 3x zoom and just doesn't cut it all the time.

They have a 8 foot chain link all the way around the cemetery, but I was told there is a lower spot where they jump in. (sounds good for knocking off sheds!) We saw 9 but I read there has been as many as 36, and this is in the middle of town!

Apparently there has been a problem with them for some time, and the cemetery has been trying to keep them from eating all the flowers and bushes. Like usual, some people want them gone when they eat the flowers they put down, but then everyone else says they love them, dont bring in the mean hunters.

I found it interesting that this cemetery has a number of Civil War vets buried in it. Some from Missouri and other places.

This is the one I thought was a shed buck

These were the ladies tossing apples to them. At one point the lady pitching the apples threw one at random into the air and actually bonked a doe right on her head! It was hilarious and made a real great noise too, but the doe didn't even spook!

Wow, nothing prettier than that. Like to have them with an arrow through the vitals, but also love to see them like that. Isn't nature wonderful.
