some gunstock work........

Post by bob1961 »

well i thought i would post some of my stock work i did on my flintlock....this was my old factory walnut stock that really didn't do much for me....

Image

the factory stock didn't have enough comb drop to shoot good without some cheek wack, ya can see the diference from the two....

Image

as my first stock project i went with a pre shaped stock not knowing the work i had waiting....but you can see in the following pic's i had to remove lots of wood to get the stock to fit the brass hardware....

Image

Image

had to trim down the butt plate a bit to lower the comb even lower....

Image

the stock even with the nose cap now....

Image

the color of the stain i used....

Image

the final product of my work....

Image

Image

i made the metal work look greyish to show aged wear to it, hope all have enjoyed it's transformation as i did doing it  .........bob

Looks great Bob!
I admire your patience. :)

Bob . . .that is smooth as silk! Beautiful. I love the wood.
