Semi-Auto Shotguns

Post by xbhntr »

Looking to buy a new semi-auto 12 gauge shotgun. A Remington Versa - Max or the Model 11-78 sportsman Magnum waterfowl.Winchester Super X 3 is another on my list, their LOP can be adjusted by removing butt spacers. The main reason for these 3 guns is is LOP ( length of pull ). I have a short arm length and I require a 13 " LOP. The standard usually is 14- 14 1/4" . To find your LOP measure form the butt to the trigger on a gun that fits you. Have any of you waterfowlers used any of the mentioned guns; if so; I 'd like to hear your good or bad experiences with them. Ray.

I have'nt hunted waterfowl for several years but when I did I used an SX2 and absolutely loved that gun so the SX3 should do you well sir.

I read good stuff about that Versa, never had one in my hands though.

I own both a 1187 special purpose 3 inch and the 1187 super magnum.

The magnum drops the geese dead with 3 1/2 shells where as the 3 inch will break bones.

Those pesky honkers never stay put and will swim away from sound, so I like investing in the 3 1/2 shells.

Bought a lug barrel for the magnum, scope & mount to use as deer gun too.

That makes 6 Remingtons in my collection !!!!!

I have the SX3 and LOVE IT. It is very light weight and the recoil is almost non-existent. It cycles very smooth, the only trouble I have had with it is it will not cycle target loads under 3.0 dram equivalent. Not an issue with turkey loads!!!! :D
