Turkey guillotine 2" clearance

Post by bcmuledeer »

My order from bhss came in today, ordered 2" guillotines, now I see they don't clear the stirrup, besides getting a longer arrow, I was thinking of making a custom stirup. What are you guys/gals doing to fix this,if anybody has run into this before? Thanks for your comments and has anybody changed their stirup? I was thinking of making one out of aluminum with a recessed area for clearence.

Would be nice if you could fold it back under after cocked...

Like Norm says, last year there was a thread on this subject.
One of the mods makes the whole thread worth looking for, it was a hinged stirrup that looked like it came from the factory.

Very trick looking stirrup for sure!!
If you don't have the means to make such a pretty stirrup a longer arrow will also get you shooting.

I see from your sig line you already have slicks? I use a zwickey grappler w/ same [20 gr] no change in poi at 30, [totally useless w/ emax] but my arrows stay in bird w/ 200# bows.

Do those bheads come w/ practice blades?

Awshucks, no they don't, but Dave at wyverns told me poi would be same at up to 30yards. My field points are 100g aswell as the broadheads. Is Dave right? The slick tricks are 1" four blade. When I ordered my Excalibur kit, I told Dave I also wanted practice blades, he told me to save my money, no need to buy. :D

That's what I have heard also...more stable in flight.

For practicallity reasons if you go the route of making a new styrup, I believe I would make a fixed one with no hinge. A hinge is something else to loosen and cause vibration. Also another step of something you have to do to prepare for a hunt. A fixed strup with a curve in it would be easy enough and a good rigid mount to not cause vibration. I'm not trying to knock the hinged one Iris made because it does look nice. But thinking more of durability and practicality.

Like your thinking groundpounder, I have the tooling to make one up, like you said, less to go wrong, I'd hate to get hit by either the bow or arrow if something goes wrong. I will post pictures when its done. It will take awhile, seems i'm to dumb and have to go to school again, advanced electronics troubleshooting course to do 1st. Be good to get out of town for awhile, bringing the wifey along. :D Hopefully i'll have money to come home with after she's done shopping.

David knows his stuff for sure. X2 on not needing them for the Slicks.
"Is Dave right?" You'll know before I will, lol. I'm not a lucky type and those things ring my danger bells.

good luck!
