VA Turkey

Post by Rich »

Haven't posted in a while although I still view daily. Here's my VA gobbler from this morning. Was a rainy morning and no birds gobbled on the roost, this guy came in silent and gobbled twice at 50 yards out to some soft purrs. Shot him at 25 yards, was a big bird at 22 lbs with a 11.75" beard.

It was a shotgun kill, the birds have finally turned on here. They were really henned up the past few weeks. I'll take the bow out for the next one......well maybe, I have a hard enough time with the gun.

Roly,

He only had 1" spurs, but they were very sharp.

Sweet bird. Did the dog hunt with you or just come along for the picture?
