Our best hunt, EVER.

Post by Pydpiper »

Hunter, my son, always gets opening day off school to hunt with me, and after yesterdays events all we came home with was smiles and stories of our mistakes. Being a holiday, he was home anyways to be tormented by a pair of toms.
Kept him home again today (bad daddy), we walked from the backyard and went in search of some new birds at 5 this morning. We had an excellent show from a big tom, a jake and their girlfriends. After watching them work their way to the other side of the field I started to hammer on the box call like I was trying to break it, both males shot to 40 yards of our blind leaving the hens behind.
The next few minutes are ones that I will never forget, nor will my 8 Year old son. A lot of turkeys have fallen in front of me, this mornings was very special. :D
Life is good.

And then the wife coming to our rescue to help us dig the Suzuki out of the field, the truck is still there.
