What sighting system do you use?

Post by Woodsman »

Hi! The forum membership is definitely growing everyday! More and more hunters/shooters are turning to crossbows... :D

I thought it might be interesting to know what sighting systems we are all using to hunt or shoot. Since, there are some members with multiple crossbows, please indicate your preferred sighting system.

I'm using the Varizone and am very pleased with it.

I like the Vari Zone on my Exocet.

My Vixen "wears" the Drop Zone I bought with it in early 2001. I sighted the scope in when I got the Vix, have shot it heavily for three 3D seasons, gone through many strings BUT the point of impact has remaine consistant and I have never touched the scope setting in three years.

IMHO, that's a good endorsement :D

Currently I have a Varizone on my Emag, a Dropzone on my Exocet and a Maxzone on my Ruger 10/22

I think for 3D this summer the Varizone is going on the Exocet and the Maxzone will find a permanent home on my Exomag and it will be used for hunting only.

The Dropzone will be kept safe and sound for when I get my old Vixen back.

Confused yet?

Maxzone on my 185# Exomag because the Varizone wasn't available when I bought it.

Any new sighting system will be the varizone...

I currrently have a Maxzone on my exomag but I think i will be upgradeing to varizone soon, as I have some new limbs and rail coming my way I will only have to turn the speed ring down and not have to resight in.

I am still an advocate of keep it simple stupid. Since I don't shoot in competition the peep and pin suits me just fine (for now) anyway. I can keep 3 inch group at 30 yards with it, so will stick with it for hunting.

I use a red dot sight,I shoot it with both eyes open which makes judgeing distance a lot easier.

Vari-Zone is the sight of choice for me.
Them fiber optic front sights are getting to fuzzy to see! Looks like they'd make sights like they did in the '60's if they expect people to use them!

I have so far used the factory sights. I've thought about changing to a scope for a more percise aiming point. Maybe by next fall I will have the scope on.

Which Scope is better?

What's the difference between the Maxzone and the Varizone? When I purchase my new setup which one would you recommend? (Assuming it will be mounted on an Exomag.)
