I have taken several deer with the factory fiber optic sights that excalibur includes on thier crossbows. As a personal prefference I do not shoot at deer past 30 yards anyway, so for me factory sights just the ticket. I have used scopes and found that sometimes you miss seeing twigs and sticks between you and the deer and I have blown shots on the count of it. I have never used any other sights than the factory ones so I can't comment on the other sight options. One of the forum members talks about sighting the crossbow in at 25 yards. Then anything from 20 to thirty are just about dead on shots. The difference in the the ranges are only a couple of inches and are all still in the kill zone.

Check out this review about their sights. However, they recently added an Extreme version. Looks interesting.

That is a downside for a fact lol However, when you get it, test it out and let us know how it works. It will take a ton of cashing in cans before I can afford it, so I will wait for your input before I start scouring the roadways :)

BTW, what model of Excal are you putting this on?

Just ordered an Excalibur Shadowzone for my point blanc.
We're not allowed to hunt here but it looks a good scope for 3ds.
Some of our shots can be out to 50-60yds but more usually 25-35 yds.

I use the factory sights and they work well for me. Have never tired the Bad River sights; I figure that for the price, I might as well invest in a scope. If I took shots further than thirty yards, it might be an issue, but I don't do that, so no big deal.

yes, the price is steep, about the same for a scope. as i have mentioned before, i want to use open sights, i to only shoot to 30 yds., so there is no need for a scope at this time. i feel that the sight on my exocet is some what fragile,i am a stickler for quality bow sights. i have had some horrorfying moments in the deer woods, so now i buy the best that i can afford. while taking my first good look at it the other day i was checking out the sight. touched the fiber-optic and it fell wright off  i knew it, i knew it i kept muttering. wright thenand there i made up my mind that i am going to have to find a better sight. i took an smaal piece of f-o and am using it temporarily, heck i wanted to shoot my new xbow, man!! even with a barely visible f-o i was shooting a fist size group at 30yds., not bad, not bad... will keep you posted on the new sight....

I am with you about peep sights. I prefer them for my needs; I don't need a scope to hunt right now (only 35 and eyes are decent if not great), and I hate the clunky feeling of a large scope on my weapon. I would be very interested in your review of the sights in question, as it sounds as though your wants in sights are very similar to my own.

You're right, the factory sights are not ultra durable, although, I haven't personally had them fall apart on me.

Happy hunting!
