Expandable Broadheads

Post by Bearcatlover »

Does anyone use expandable broad heads? I have an Equinox cross bow. I use expandables with my compound bow and I would like to use an expandable with my Excalibur. Can anyone recommend one?

Welcome to the forum!!!! :D
I killed two deer and two hogs last year using spitfires...best mechanical made in my opinion!!!
You may want to use the x-bow version if you decide to try them, supposed to have a stronger spring/clip in it. May come in handy since your shootin "the beast".

I have been practicing with both the xact and spifire and so far do not see much difference as far as accuracy. Both seem to shoot just like field points from my axiom

If you are getting good results with the broadhead that you are using with your compound, then you may want to use them.

I'm using the Spitfires and the Stricknines.

What are you currently using?

I'm shooting Rage 2's out of my Vortex and they are accurate and very deadly! :) I'll be trying the Rage Crossbow 125 gr out this season as well.

NAP Spitfires are spot on with my target points. I use them for deer hunting. For nuisance hogs, raccoons, armadillo, coyote, fox, bobcat etc I use the NAP Shockwave, Cabelas Laser Strike or the Sticknine. For turkeys the Stricknine is very hard to beat. Knocks them down like a wrecking ball.

Thanks to all of you guys for the great information you sent me regarding a good expandable (mechanical) broadhead. I actually purchased my Equinox last fall at the beginning of my chemo treatment regimen. Unfortunately I wasn't able to hunt due to my very low immunity caused by my treatment. However, I am in remission and in great shape looking to bag a big buck with my Excalibur. Oh and thanks for welcoming me to the forum. This is awesome! Hopefully I will be able to post a good result as our hunting season in Ohio begins September 24th. Good hunting to all!
