Expandable broadhead accuracy

Post by Jimmer G »

Just wondering what kind of accuracy I should expect with the xact heads? I am shooting an axiom and from 30 yards off the bench am getting shots approximately I inch to 1 1/2 inches from the bullseye and I was wondering if this is as good as it gets? With field points I can nearly put one right in the previous hole from the prior shot. One inch variation isn't to bad but I may try some spitfires to compare the performance but was just wondering what degree of accuracy guys were getting with mechanicals?

Dead on. I have used them in the past and still use them. I also have used the Bolt Cutter broad heads and like those also.

For us the X-act has about the same POI has the 100 grain target tip, out to 50 yards (has far as I've shot them). If there was any different in the POI it was less then an inch, I really did not notice any.

If you are consistent at that spot, then adjust your sights for the new POI. Use helical or quick spin fletching for best results.

I've tried several mechanicals over the years and most will group as well and right with field points.

Are your groups with the X-acts good and tight?
If not, I'd check the heads carefully. No experience with the X-act, but I'd suspect something was wrong (loose blades, mis-aligned ferrule, etc.) with the heads or your inserts. Spin test the arrows if you can.

If the groups are tight, but just not with field points, I don't have an answer.
