Congrats to you and thanks for the great tale of the hunt! Good luck to the young fellow now. :)

You dang right. I was just thinking that.

My biggest two bodied deer from Florida are pictured below. The one in the truck went 165 and the trail cam picture was one I shot a year after the trial cam pic. Shot him in late December (peak chase time is 2nd week of January) and he was 185 lbs... which is by far the biggest bodied deer I have seen OR shot yet.

Both in Bay County, FL.

I don't have a post-shot pictuer of the trail cam buck, but I do have this picture of his nasty rack. Like I said, I killed the season after the trail cam shot. Have pictures and personal sightings for three years... year one he was probably a three year old, and his rack NEVER changed. When I shot him, he had broken half his rack off and it had some serious rot. Was definitely a mature deer. Too bad he didn't have any good genetics. I aslso shot a two year old that I'm pretty sure was his son because he had the exact same wide crab claw deal with zero tines and no height.

Anyway, the body on this boy was about as big as you can hope for a planted pine / beachsand white tail with no nearby improvements to the land.

Ah... the joys of deer hunting on beach sand in planted pine trees. And not only are they tiny deer, they're also HARD to hunt. A lot of people don't understand that, but they dang sure are... at least the ones around me.
