Dad Got a Few

Well Saturday mornin was openin day for the black powder for us. Our goal for the mornin was to get my friend Carrie her first deer. Well dad, Mr.Tom(Carries' dad) && Carrie all brought their black powders. I had my bow in hand. Dad asked me if I wanted him to sit with me, just in case one steps outta bow range. I told him no. So we made a big triangle between the three of us. I seen two deer, one around 8, the other around 9:30. Never came in close enough for a shot. Stayed out about 80yds. I was the only one that seen one that mornin. I also had the pleasure of meeting someone here on the forum after we got out of the woods. I got to meet Mr.Jimmy, also known as georgiaboy on here. It was great meeting him and getting to know him.

That evenin dad && Mr.Tom went back out. I took a nice 4hr nap on the couch. While I was eatin dinner, dad sends me a text "Need ice, cooler && saw. Killed a doe" Well mom && I get what he needs and on the way there he sends us this "Gunna be a while. Call when ready" So I had mom drop me off at Shaynes while I waited. We went && saw him when he got there && started cleanin.

Then this mornin I slept in, had church this mornin. When I wake up, I notice my mom wasn't home. So I call her up && ask where she went && this is what she tells me " On my way to huntin control, your dad killed a big hog "

1/2 mile drag 150 lb boar hog 2 in cutters. Covered in fat!


Don't think we are goin out this afternoon, suppose to rain. Then tomorrow suppose to be brutal. Suppose to poor down rain with 30mph winds. Maybe Tuesday will have some better weather. I am down to 6days && a wake up till I leave home.

I'm glad I can put some smiles on yalls faces (:

markmarine, huntin control is basicaly where we check our deer in at, clean em. You might know it as pass && permitt? No, I was not regreting havin the gun on me, or dad sittin with me. I absolutley love the challenge of bow hunting. It's too easy to pick up the gun and take a shot at 70yds or 80yds or however far the shot it. Just put the crosshairs on the shoulder and pull the trigger. Bow hunting is a complete different world. You have to make sure you use the right pin, that they are in bow range. Gotta be able to hold your composure when they are standing 20yds in front of you. And I much rather hunt with my bow the rest of the season I am here && when I am home for Christmas, then with my rifle or shotgun.
