Hunting Bolt Question

Post by RANGER94 »

Hello Everyone - I just shot my first deer with Vortex using Excalibur bolts and bolt cutter broadhead. It was pretty much a spine shot with the bolt passing through the doe. My question is: Do you reuse your bolt after you get a deer? The bolt cutter blades look pretty beat up and bent. Can either the bolt or the bolt cutter be reused? Is there a way to check for damage or bend?

Thanks!

I keep a pack of extra blades. Wash the bolt and change the blades in the BH. Good thing to have to do. :P

Good deal on your first Vortex deer! :P

Go a head an reuse the bolt if it is good look it over and bend and flex it a bit it look for cracks or splinters it it checks out use it .
The bolt cutter can have new blades put it it if the tip is still good and it will spin test o.k. danny miller has blades 740 483 2312.
Congrats on the Deer also :D

Spin test it, then shoot it at your target to make sure it still flys good.I always reuse mine if they aren't damaged. I install new blades on the broadhead.
