Thanksgiving at the cabin

Post by TPM »

You Ontario folks know what an unusually warm and sunny weekend we had for Thanksgiving this year. We spent three days at our cabin near Huntsville and boy, what a gorgeous weekend it was there. Did some grouse hunting, had a few flushes but didn't connect. The heat was taking it's toll on the dog too. He would go in spurts but it didn't take long for him to bonk. Took some archery gear along but it was too hot to deer hunt. We would have had to skin and process immediately and we just weren't equipped for that. Did a lot of hanging out and relaxing. :D
Here's a few pics.

Very nice photos guys. Nice to see everybody with a smile on their faces.

Pretty soon you're not going to have to bend over to give Ben a hug!

Was a great weekend even though it was deerless. :D

It was just nice to be out and about in the fall colours under that cloudless blue sky. In my family we always called those clear days "Alberta weather".

The little lake on the photo is hidden away on a neighbours property - we are lucky that we're are allowed to wander around on the great roads and trails he's put in on his side. I have no idea if there are fish in that lake.

Our property abuts a beaver pond - we'd have to bushwack to access our end of it, but we visit it from the neighbour's side.

It's a great little spot and I'm grateful that I'm very able to go spend some time up there again after a few years of staying home with Ben.

Some great pics there Tim. I was in North Bay thanksgiving weekend and I couldn't believe how hot it was during the day.
