Congrats! Way to go!
*PRETTY IN PINK, DEADLY IN CAMO!

*In the fall I get to kill em in the rut, but in the spring I get to watch em strut.
*You can take the girl outta woods, but you can't take the addiction outta the girl!
*Can't kill anything sitting on the couch.

Congrats to you.
It seems if you never got a pass through and the deer dropped right away, you might have hit or nicked the spine just enough for the deer to drop right away.

Usually they dont drop like that unless its a spine shot.

Happened to me on a deer at 8 yards too.
I was up in a tree stand 20 feet and hit the deer high clipping the spine and through one lung.
I was using my Exocet 200 with GT lazer II and 100 grain slick trick.

No pass through

The deer dropped right away and I cocked the bow again to put another arrow into it but before I could it had already expired.

I was looking into using the Rage broadheads with my compound bow.
As I was researching them I found quite a few videos on the internet with deer being shot broadside and several shots were not pass throughs.

I decided to shoot slick tricks instead.
