first kill with my new exomax

Post by fujimo »

Well the new Exomax got broke in last night on a nice fat freezer doe. 8 yard shot hit high behind the right shoulder and exited low to mid body on the left side. Interesting thing is I was using a 125 grain Rage and to my surprise (no pass through) with that poundage and a two blade Rage i thought it would blow right through her. However the deer did drop right in its tracks and died a minute later. After further investagation i found it hit a rib on each side.It destroyed the blade on one side.

Congrats on your deer!

Interesting about the Rage.
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4

Interesting about the Rage.
That is surprising about the b.h. I wonder if you hitting the rib caused the rear of the arrow to kick to one side loosing the penetration power of having the stored energy all directed on the same plane ?
This is why I do not aggree when people say the the 225 pound bows are over kill, speed and power are good things in a bow as long as they are still accurate and all Excals set up properly are accurate I will do the extra serving job a year give me the power and flat trajectory of the 225 # bows

Congrats! at that yardage i would have expected a pass through. You said you hit high on entrance and it dropped, also destroyed a blade on one side. Did you by chance graze the spine or a shoulder?
