Ga. doe down!!

Post by georgiaboy »

I got a nice little 7pt yesterday morning...and topped it off with a fat doe yesterday evening!! :D :D
Had the big nanny doe and another smaller one come down a trail in a thick branch like they were drawed on a string, i let the smaller one pass and when this one got broadside i bleated at her and made the 21yd shot. I used a 125gr grim reaper razor cut broadhead out of my vortex. Although the reaper got the heart & one lung i found absolutely no blood on the ground...none, not a drop!! :?
The only thing i can think of is maybe something stopped up the exit wound because she was busted up inside pretty good.
I may have lost her if i didn't "watch her drop" !!

Congratulations on your nanny, I had the same thing happen on the 7 point I got a couple of days ago. Good shot but no blood trail. Blew my mind considering the hole he had in him.

Congrats looks like you blew through the shoulder blade it was most likely going back and forth over the wound Chanel blocking the blood flow most of the time.

I hunt exclusively from the ground . . .it isn't uncommon for me to not have a blood trail for the first 30 yards or so. When a deer takes off running after the hit, they can go 50 yards a second . . .probably faster than the time it takes for the blood to flow down and drop off the fur, unless you hit a bleeder artery. Anyway, it's not uncommon.

It's nice to see them drop.

Congrats on the big fat nanny. :)
