Crankaroo problem

Post by B-Logger »

While cocking my bow with the rope cocker, all is well. However, most of the time I have to use the crankaroo. I had a hard time figuring this out at first as I was only using the crank and just before the string got to the trigger a rather loud crack would be heard. It sounded like a limb was cracking; that's how loud it was.

Finally traced it to the crankaroo. Rather, it is the string. As the string is winding, it winds as it should but as it starts its way winding in the opposite direction, the string rolls onto itself for a turn or two and then it slides off and that is what is making the loud noise.

I hope I've made that clear on the winding of the string. As you know, the string starts winding from the outside towards the inside and then from the inside out. There is the problem. The string used to wind up nicely but not so nicely now.

Suggestions other than changing the string?

Scarey, huh? :D Mine has always done that. I occasionally unwind the whole thing and rewind it. That fixes it for a while.

Well it was scary the first time it happened for sure. Didn't take too long to figure it out, especially after trying with the rope cocker and all was well then.
