The Excal X-Act Broadhead

Post by kill-m »

I'm trying to find out if the x-act is as good as described by Excal? What about the bolt cutter? Need some good advice before I make a purchase.
Thanks guys!

I haven't shot the X-act, but I know several on here have, so they can tell you about them.

As for the Boltcutters, they ARE as good as Excalibur says. They aren't as wide as some on the market, but they are more than adequate to get the job done. If you're shooting a standard Easton Firebolt arrow, that's what they were designed for.

I've shot several deer with them. Dependable and good blood trail.

I have used both and I perfer the bolt cutter. I have used the x-act to take 2 deer in the past and on one of them the broadhead was not re-usable. Also shot a yote this year with them and it also was not re-usable. I realize most people dont expect to re-use broadheads but i like being able to throw new blades in them and continue hunting and the boltcutters are better suited to that. They are designed well, group well, and kill well.

Nice reviews guys! I really appreciate the way everyone here tries to help. I've just ordered the X-Act's to try and will probably order the Boltcutters also and decide which one I like best.
Great pic's too...thanks!

I haven't tried the x acts either. The bolt cutters are very good though. My son in law killed his doe this year with an xact, right underneath him. Complete penetration and zero feet recovery!

I shot a coyote this week with an Xact mechanical broad head at 40 yards with my Equinox and this was the exit hole

The blades on the Xact can be changed, I have purchased a package and will have to change them as my arrow blew through him and skipped of the ground behind him. This is my first experience with these and I will continue to use them!

Stick with the girl you took to the dance. Both are great, x-acts and boltcutters.

To those of you who are using the X-Act broadheads, are you using a heavier insert with these?

I am using X-acts on stock firebolts and love them. FOC ends up about 13% with completely stock setup.

The 2 i have hit deer with both went into ground i am confident with a little honing they will be good to go again. I think that all depends on the ground they are going into.
