Mounting Rail Screws

Post by ELLIS »

Some screw is always vibrating loose on my Equinox and this is after all of them have blue loctite on them. This weekend the scope mounting rail screws decided it was their turn. They are in very bad shape after being tightened over and over again. I am not a mechanical person, can someone tell me what screws are used to hold the scope mounting rail to the trigger mechanism. I would need the size and length so I can get another set of four.

Cheers,

Bill

Try green Loctite and or putting more tension on the fastener.
I normally don't use anything but then I tighten the snot out of them.

8-32x5/16 Mounting Rail Screws

Don, that is how these small screws got messed up. I added so much tension that the hex holes on them are mostly round. I have not damaged any of the larger screws on the bow.

As for the green loctite, I have never heard of it before. Does it act like blue loctite in that the screws can be removed or is it more like the red that cannot be taken apart?

Thanks to "theoldarcher" for the screw size and to "Boo" for the green loctite tip.

Blue is considered removable, red is considered permanent. Green is in between.
Do you use an allen in 1/4" socket drive?

Nope, I got myself a set of "T" handle hex wrenches after you mentioned them to me.... That is what I have been using. I will take a look as the socket sets.

Will any of the loctites damage the plastic stock and rails on the Excaliburs? The Loctite site has the following warning: Not Recommended For use on plastic parts, particularly thermoplastic materials where stress cracking of the plastic could result.
