I dunno, I know their Calendar is messed up because they celebrate Thanksgiving in the wrong month and the wrong day, maybe it's their April Fools day up there? :?:

Congrats VixChix!!! Just had to stir the pot a little
Now therefore take, I pray thee, thy weapons, thy quiver and thy bow, and go out to the field, and take me some venison; And make me savoury meat, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless thee before I die. Gen 27:3-4

That's terrific!! The Ladies of forum are doing good Come on Isha, it's your turn!

Vix, We expect to see plenty of pictures of the deer of you field dressing it and especially you skinning it. I understand you have a decent skinning knife to do the job!
You sure you can skin griz, pilgrim??

Life is too short to carry an UGLY knife!

Got a lot of blood and sweat on the camo today - but no tears!

Will post the story with some pics later.

BTW, it's a 6 point - should have been an 8 but the one antler was broken off.

Stay tuned for some pics!

I shot it out of a stand that Kevin & his Dad had set up. On property that Kevin and his Dad put many hours of scouting into. With Kevin's scoped 870 and his ammo.

I could NEVER in my life have hauled that buck out on my own! Kevin and his brother Scott hauled it most of the way. I really appreciated their help - especially through the thick and nasty stuff.

I gutted it with lots of guidance and coaching from Kevin, Scott and their Dad - I'd probably still be out up to my elbows in guts if they hadn't patiently talked me through it. I know it was tempting for them to jump in and just get it done. Kevin helped a few times with that too.

Sure I shot it. I did that on my own - but I wouldn't have been there in the first place without the generosity of those 3 men. And of course my husband who stayed home and got the boys off to school so I could get out today.

Story to follow in another thread! :D
