2 Days of our Controlled hunt im WMU 80 and no pic's !

Post by R.J. »

I'm crushed !
Just got home after two great days in the field only to find out my camera and memory card are pooched !

We got three deer so far ... two small bucks and a doe .

The one buck died on an island and I spent a couple hours , hunched over in the remains of an old sailboat , using a paddle made of a hockey stick with a board nailed too it ... paddling against the current to recover the deer which included two slip off's and re-tie's while balancing in this unstable craft .... in the end I stood waist deep in the river to field dress him ... only to find my camera and memory card got wet and damaged .

Well ... Time to pull out the back up camera and start again tomorrow !

Good luck to all that are out in the Ontario Controlled Hunt , this week !

Congratulations on the deer!
Sorry to hear about the camera. though.
I was recently reading a thread about waterproof cameras on a fly fishing forum. Some of them seem to get good reviews. Mostly point and shoot models, but that's about all I'm capable of figuring out how to use, anyway.
Might get one in the future, those underwater pics of fish are interesting.

Oh Rick! I'm so sorry to hear about the camera! I'm not used to seeing threads by you without photos!

Glad to hear that you've had some shotgun success - even though I'm sure you could have done without the "sailboat" (mis)adventure!!!!

Here's hoping the rest of the week is successful - and a bit easier on you and your camera equipment!

Stay safe - I'm already looking forward to your next thread! :D

Good to hear the hunt is going well but sorry to hear about your camera taking a hit.
Those would have been some great pics to see for sure. :(

Your camera *may* be pooched (Soak it in a bucket of methyl Hydrate for an hour and then leave it over a heat register to dry out....you may be surprised)

But: Your memory card should be just fine. If you have any rice around, throw your card in a baggie full and leave it for a day or two, it'll suck the moisture right out and your pictures will be intact.

NO PICS!! Hardly worth opening the thread.

Nobody hates to see you without a camera more than we do. I'd like to have seen pictures of the "craft".

Congrats on the deer!
