Ordered a Phoenix
I just ordered the Phoenix with the "lite package" along with some 150 grain bolt cutters and replacement blades.
I went back and forth between the Vortex and the Phoenix and finally made my choice due to the fact I'm going on 63 years of age, and hopefully down the road I will still be able to handle it.
I am a longbow shooter/hunter, but have never hunted in the late Michigan season because of the extra clothing needed (hard to pull bow).
I'm hoping the set-up and sight in go well. I'll keep you posted.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

I have the same set up and we are basically the same age, if you don't have one a rope cocker works great. You will enjoy your crossbow, may your hunts be good ones.
Re: Ordered a Phoenix
welcome airborne. I am 63 and had some of the same concerns. After following this forum for a couple of years and learning of the Excal reliability compared to the other brands out there I knew what I wanted to buy, an Excal. My only concern was how much draw weight I could work with as time passed. Rest assured that cocking a 175 lb. crossbow with the rope cocker can compaired to the effort required to pick up a 25 lb. bag of taters. Really not all that bad.

Re: Ordered a Phoenix
Airborne,
I am 67; going on 68; with a total hip replacement and bursitis in one shoulder.
I recently up-graded from a 150 lb. Excalibur to a 175 lb. Excalibur. With a rope cocker, I cannot tell the difference in the cocking effort between either crossbow.
With a rope cocker, you should not have any problems cocking your bow. Have a good season and keep us posted.

Your going to love it Sir. The deer not so much but you will. I will get you out in the woods again. Priceless.
Re: Ordered a Phoenix
Welcome and congrats on your new Phoenix. It's a great bow and you're gonna love it. Sighting it in won't be a problem and it'll be a tack driver when you're done.
Happy hunting and safe shooting.

Gun control is like trying to reduce drunk driving by making it tougher for sober people to own cars.
