O/T - What do you do for a living?

Graduated H.S. '78 went to work for Ford Motor Co.
in '78 laid off '80. Enjoyed life, worked for a Fluid Seal
Co. 8yrs. company was bought out, moved business out
of state. Last 23yrs worked for BASF-The Chemical Co. as
a senior operator. 5 more yrs. and I can opt out

I got my degree in Massage Therapy in Colorado in 2002, then studied Traditional Osteopathy in Toronto for a year in '06-'07. (I really like Canada! )

I recently stepped back from a busy and stressful private practice to spend quality time with the wife, hunt, fish and get a fresh perspective. I'm thankful that I've been able to do that! I'm slowly headed back to work on a client here a client there basis...

Also! My wife and I are expecting our first baby in early January so perspective shifts are coming at us from all directions. Leaving it to having kids to light a fire under the arse regarding what the priorities are.

I'm an Equipment Operator for the State. Have been for over 10 years after 20 years as an Exterminator and hopefully will be able to retire in 10 more years and become a professional hunter.

I work for a small manufacturing company figuring out customers problems and fixing them .
I started there back in 93 .

Graduated hs in 1983, did some carpentry work for a few years. Hung up my tools and started with a small printing company that was going places. "All gov. contracts". After 25 years, that small company is about to go out of buisness. Its week by week now.

Looks like I'll be starting over soon, just not in the printing industry.

Graduated High School in '74,started college,parents paying for it all,quit after 2 yrs to get married (brilliant career move number one!) Went to local unions carpenter appreticeship school,(brilliant career move number two) journeyed out in '82,been driveing nails of some kind pretty much ever since.( brilliant career move number three) Have done trim and cabinets for about 28-30 years.Local unions about dried up,Texas is a "Right to Work" state so not much union work goes on anymore.Have been non-union since about '90. Stay busy and it pays the bills. The older I get the less attraction I have for it tho'.Had a pretty tough day today,about a day and a half job that must be finished today and had the brand new kid as my only help. I "ran" literaly from 7 till about5 to get it done and then had to take the kid home!! His ride left at normal time(3:30) I am old enough and grumpy enough that most let me alone and usually get the pretty cool jobs to build,or at least the ones nobody else can do or dont want to do. In a nut shell.

Started working when I was 12, in the corner grocery store and always had some kind of job through school. Graduated 1966 and spent some time in retail sales (Montgomery Ward, etc.) Started bar-tending at age 21 and did well at it for about 20 years until the government decided to tax us on tips we didn't make. Started working for the United States Postal Service as a city carrier, then clerk, then supervisor and finally postmaster. Spent the last 13 years as a postmaster and retired 3 years ago. Or is it 4? I don't know. I just know I'm lovin' it!!

I am a Hazardous Materials Technician.
Basically a glorified janitor that cleans up/remediates Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods incidents for the private sector.

Went from high school graduation to the US Navy then came home when my enlistment was up and got a job in a grocery store. Quit that after a few months and went into law enforcement for a little over a year. Soon realized that wasn't my calling, so I went to work for a building material retailer. Several years there then went to work for an electric & plumbing contractor. Loved the plumbing part (I was an electrician in the navy) so I got my state license and went into plumbing for myself. Been at it for 25 years now, and I'm still enjoying being a self employed plumber.

well i'm a heavy equipment operator class a truck driver but have done a few jobs
in 1975 i figured school was not for me and dropped out also was told if i was old enough to leave school i was old enough to support myself .my father had died and my mother thought she would scare me back to school .i left that day and started working the next day for 2.35 an hour .i took home 87 dollars a week and payed 30 for room and board .i quit the job after a year and worked in a slaughter house for a year for 3 bucks an hour .dirty job but was making more.i got mad at the world had no car so stuck my thumb out and ended up 2500 miles from home running tower on a gravel crusher in northern alberta on the peace river .learn to run and have run any kind off equipment you can name .ended up in the operating engineers union an building golf coarses .some where in there got married and divorced no buddy told me your supposed to stay home .i did not live what you would call a sheltered life .could tell storys most would not believe .
i got layed off one winter and was offered a job for a week and stayed 5 years traveled the world building tobacco kilns. met my wife 16 years ago while working in mexico but ended up living a couple miles from where i was born and running equipment 40 hours a week. things could have been a lot different but if i die tomorrow i can tell you i have lived some real adventures and have friends all over the world to boot .

USMC. Then undergraduate degree in Outdoor Education/Recreation and worked in that & semi-related areas until retirement.

Upon retirement, I fulfilled a life long dream. At the young age of 63, I entered graduate school with a specialty in Historical Archaeology.

Started working in a small machine shop while still in high school and while I went to college for a criminal justice degree. Thought I was going to be a game warden . I wound up working at the machine shop for 8 years before leaving to work for General Mills. When I was hired I worked for the packaging department. It was not long before I was in the maintenance department. A few months ago a new postion was created for me titled fabrication specialist. I love my job ! Been at General Mills for 15 years now !
