Do Deer like Carrots?

Has anyone ever used carrots in their feed sites? I know a lot of people use corn and apples at baiting areas. I've heard they love carrots and beets. I just wanted to hear if anyone had experience using carrots and was it good or bad.

this yr I tried a mixture of left over veggies from garden
Carrotts and beets were a big part and they tore it up

...I've hunted with just carrots and had great success...

They wouldnt touch them where i am, Try getting a hold of some unwanted pumpkins!

I have hunted in Michigan and used beets or carrots the deer lap them up . Tried them here in SW Ontario and they will not touch them . May not know what they are . ( they do not seem to eat the pears I put out either .

My deer are picky!

I put down apples and carrots last year and they ate the apples and left the carrots to shrivel up untouched. A friend of mine tried beet pulp this year and the deer are pounding it like crazy!!

you may want to try pumpkins as well the buck i shot last week was full of pumpkin seeds .i had heard that before so planted them in my food plot this year to try them .this buck was not shot in my food plot but there must have been a patch near where i shot him

I'd try a few and see.

Deer can be picky. I feed corn and have tried many other grains, fruits, and vegetables. The only thing I've had them eat was apples, and not every time I put them out. Sometimes they go untouched, sometimes the deer munch them like they are starving.
Persimmons & pawpaws were eaten, but I suspect coons got most of them. Pumpkins were untouched.

I may be wrong here but i was thinking ,,any food you put out that the deer are not used to may have poor results...
i just seems to me that if there has beeen no carrots and all the sudden some show up the deer may be wary of em..
but after awhile they get to know them as food and thats all you put out then they will work fine..

I was always told to feed what ever they're on already. So if they're making there way to corn, feed corn. Not to highjack the thread but do mature bucks come to the feed during the day? I've heard they avoid feed.

In our part of the world - absolutely!

As for apples - the love 'em too around here, but so does our bear population and once one makes it's presence in a deer food plot you're done so we have to be carefull with those.

Now is a good time for carrots.
If you put them out too early in the season the deer wont touch them and the carrots start to rot and stink.
