Uncocking with bolt still in..Part 2

Post by Bob64 »

Can't believe it!! A few years ago I got back to my vehicle and uncocked my Exomax with the bolt still in. I put a Mercedes Logo in the tip of my boot. Luckily I was able to recock the bow and pull the bolt out of my boot. The only hole was in my boot and not my toes. Last night I got back to the cottage put the bow on the porch, got undressed, and decided to uncock the bow. Only this time with my socks on. Again, only a nick in my socks and I still have ten toes. Over 50 and the brain is failing. You think I would learn!! Stay tuned for part 3.

I unload my Phoenix by shooting a field point into the ground.

If I were going to let the string down by hand (or with the rope aid) I'd make my arrows long enough to project far enough into the stirrup area to make it impossible to get a foot in the stirrup with an arrow on the deck.

I used to have nice pair of waterproof lacrosse burly boots.
now i have one waterproof burly boot. :(
I did that last year and almost did it again a few days later..
to prevent dyfire we always think .Cock-safety-load arrow
easy right..well i have learned to do the same unloading
take out arrow-install decocker-look to make sure arrow is gone-let string down..
all these steps seem like a lot but after you get em in your head its automatic..BUT!! I'll not boast and say im past a mistake :D

Wife bought me some very cool boots a few years ago.. They had studs on the bottom them only protruded when they went below freezing.
Took about two weeks to get a perfect 4 sided hole that matched a Slick Trick in the top.

Your not the only one this has happened to!!! When I first got my bow in '09 I had to break a bolt in half to prevent further damage. Welcome to the club.

Sorry fellas I'm with Cossack on this one. I just don't know how that could happen. Once I'm out of the woods into an area where there is no possibility of a deer jumping up infront of me the arrow is out of the bow. Same thing with a gun. Unloaded just the same.

I went to a 22 arrow this year and found you could not get your foot in the stirrup with a arrow in the bow and they shoot great and will keep you from cutting off a toe.
