Oh no! You're down for a while it looks like. Take it easy and heal up. This thread can wait.

I worked in a machine shop for many years and lost about 1/2" of my thumb in a screw machine. Hurt like hell for 3 days. You don't realize how important your thumb is until you lose it...or at least part of it in my case.

Your injury shouldn't effect your ability to feel too much after you get healed up.

Ouch, take care of yourself first Mike. I did a similar cut with my table saw and it hurt like heck. And wouldn't you know it when one of your tips of a thumb or a finger is damaged you are always going to hit that one on something.
Take care buddy and let it heal up well.

Thanks everyone for your concern. As I get older I seem to focus to much on the work at hand and forget to be carefull. Good thing I am on painkillers already. Got a definite pounding going on in that thumb. There is life there so all is well. I KNEW that swirling meat machine would get me. I should have taken precautions right away but did not. Live and learn and carry on. Once the pounding subsides I will carry on. Mike

PS. That bit is still the best way I've found to remove wood I a hurry. Its a keeper. :D

Plenty of feeling there thats for sure. Getting better by the hour. Enjoy!

From the looks of that blood, it's not a fatal hit . . .just saying . . .

That looks nasty, bet it changed your vocabulary.
