Help with my vixen...PLEASE!!!

Post by georgiaboy »

I got my new vixen in the mail today :D but i noticed something wasn't right when i opened the box with the stock
The rail was off the stock in the front & forward about an inch. When i turned it over i noticed there are no stock screws...none...not even loose in the box!
I pushed it down and back, the screw holes line up but there's about a 1/16th of a gap between the back of the rail and the stock, not much but a noticeable gap. That may be normal. :? My question is does anybody know the length & thread size of the screws and do you think there will be any problems or issues with the trigger because of the rail being moved.
HELP PLEASE i want to shoot my new toy but i would rather send it back than damage it!!
Thank you

That sounds odd hey. Usually the stock and rail are already screwed together tight in the box. Better to let them know straight away, sure they'll look after you.

The gap is normal, the missing screws arn't.

There's two small washers that go on the screws, btw.
X2 on calling Danny.

Don't you have another Excal? 'Borrow' the stock screws from it and have at it.

They are 10-32, IIRC. GB, congrats on joining the rarest club of all. The 'Rare Rubs' club. I, of course am also President of it, having gotten a bow that said 'Phoenix' on the Exocet rail. I shot it for a year w/o knowing.

I'd read somewhere Excal has a factory problem rate of only like .04%. That covers human error and flaws in matls, probably not visible. That's an industry unheard of low of only 4 per 1000.

Hey, we're all human! :D

I'd call Danny [he's open today] then rob another bow of the two screws, tape over the washers in it, [they only come out when you don't want] it will be ok to shoot w/o washers for a spell, I'm sure. Ask him when you call.

I'm sure Dan does a final check before he sends anything out
I didn't mean to cast aspersions his way.

My bow has very little gap. Just enough to squeeze in a dollar bill.
As for missing parts, maybe just gragged the wrong box and shipped.

I'm surprised that he has not chimed in by now.
I still say send it back.

I talked to danny this morning...he told me what size screws to get, but said nothing about washers?
He will be shipping the factory screws tuesday, plus six arrows for my trouble. I picked up some temp screws and got her sighted in! As I write this I'm twenty ft up a pine tree with little v on the same acorn hill that I just killed the doe on...I'm after her sister!!

You won't see Danny 'chiming' in, he doesn't do puters much or forums.

You'd send a bow back for probably $30 total in shipping for $.30 cents in screws? Hhmmm.

Never tried it, but bet the washers on back of slicks are the same size as stock screw washers............

The first post was not just about 30 cents worth of screws.
The first post mentioned alignment and possible damage if shot that way.

Personally I hate trying to find parts that should have been there in the first place.
Then too I was not aware of the conversation georgiaboy had with Danny Miller and that screws were on the way.

As far as Danny Miller chiming in I was informed earlier by pm from another member of the forum.

"Ah, I see," said the blind man! Makes more sense now. All's well that ends well. Happy New Year.
