Excalibur anti dryfire

Post by Rufus »

I got one of the anti dryfire scope mounts and it puts the arrow holder out 2" more on the arrow, anyone else have one and any problems with it.

It mounts the retainer further forward, but it doesn't change anything else. My accuracy is just the same with it. I did run a piece of very fine wetndry sand paper over the edge of the latch to make it a little smoother when the arrow pushes past it. Just the same as I did with the excal trigger latch.
No probs with it though. I've forgotten its there now. I still check the same stuff as usuall before a shot.

why does anybody need an anti dryfire?

When target shooting= cock and shoot, cock and shoot, etc.

When hunting= oock and shoot at animal, or shoot into target when the day is over.

That's pretty much sums up why someone would want to get a anti dryfire . . .remember to load the arrow, then shoot.

I think it would be a benefit to have the arrow retainer 2" down the rail. I'd have it at the brace height if I had the option.
I'd rather wear out than rust out.

I hadn't really thought about it much, but, keeping the arrow on the rail is important. I tested a couple of strings that were too thin for my bow/arrow combo. I would occasionally get a partial dry-fire because the string was slipping under the arrow after it passed the retainer.

Just my initial thought was the retainer at the brace height might help prevent that from happening by holding the arrow against the rail.

However, that normally isn't an issue and there may be cons I hadn't given any thought.
