Arrows + game meat

When an arrow is shot at large game is there ever any danger of the arrow breaking, splitting and leaving any pieces behind in the meat, wither that be aluminum or carbon fiber, though I would guess carbon fiber splinters would be pretty nasty .

Is there ever any danger?.....yes, there's alway's a chance something could break or splinter. But in my opinion it's very small.
I've been shooting carbon arrows for the last 10 years, aluminum for the first twenty i bow hunted and only had one arrow ( aluminum ) break off in an animal and it still had the broadhead attached.
To be honest i've had more lead left in animals from firearms than remnants of an arrow!!

Aluminums wont splinter they will bend, the carbons can though.
I like the Alu. even target shooting I lose more then I bend. LOL.
Usually I make a dozen a year, keep three to humt and trage shoot with rest.

I have had 2 Carbon arrows snap, and they did indeed leave splinters behind. Worse yet, I have had Rocket Hammerheads leave a blade behind in a rib.

Yes! Its certainly possible, more with carbon than alum. Just take a good look if'en a carbon breaks off inside yer game. If'en it breaks inside just leave that area where it at. Few ounces of ribs nothing to worry over.

The deer I shot this year had a blade stuck on the ribs found while processing.

The arrow also broke off just below the fletching

Shot a deer a few years ago using carbon (GoldTips) and found half the arrow a short distance from where the deer was standing when I shot. Not sure when, where, or why it broke, but I checked that deer carefully for any splinters and found none.
I switched back to aluminum after that just to be safe.

BTW - It has been my personal experience that aluminums are a bit more accurate, too.

Thats about the way it goes. 1st & 2nd deer i shot wid me alum. logs one bent & one is good BH's were ruined. 3rd & 5th deer were GT II's both broke #4 i haven't found with my RazorTrick BH bummer on BH junk arrow is moot pt.
