Foiled break in attempt.

Post by chris4570 »

That is one very good reason to own a bullmastiff!!!

Around 3:30 this morning my dog sounded off. His bark said it all, better investigate. But I was thinking maybe a critter(coon) on the deck.

Did a quick check with the flashlight, saw nothing. Let the dog out. He barked persistantly towards the side of the house(looking towards neighbours), but still thinking critter I hushed him and got him inside.. Didn't want to disturb the neighbours.

Went back to bed. Got up regular time. Started into basement and noticed the side door was open!! Did a quick look in basement, nothing missing, no one hiding. Went outside and saw side gate open!!

Looks like my pooch had good reason to speak up!! And surely had some bad people retreating.

Our little pooch.

I live in the country and will always keep a big dog. I think people are actually more afraid of dogs than guns when it comes to breaking in a home. Too bad your dog didn't grab the guy and shake him until he turned into a dishrag. I'll bet that perp picks another house next time. Good work dogger! Gary

I am glad that the perp never got anything. Oh it would have been so nice to see that perp with that Big Boy on his arm, now that may have really slowed that perp down from getting to someone else. I hope you make a report to the police and let all your neighbors know of what went on this morning. He is a good looking dog.

Glad your dog alerted you to trouble.
As lot here know already, my Bloodhound has biten 2 ladies now. No strikes against the dog because both admitted they walked across my lawn and reached over the 4 foot fence with no one home to pet him. Now have a 7 foot solid fence.

My German Shepherd foiled a break in at our home New Years Eve. We went to our Daughter's house for a party. When we got home the front door was standing open. They got nothing and left a piece of shirt sleeve with blood on it. Gave it to police for DNA.

We were handed flyers by the police late summer due to several break-ins in the area (even during the day with people home), so I made sure to report the incident.

Our dog loves people. Is very friendly, ask Ecoaster lol, with just about everyone. But he is also very protective. I've had certain(to him) people walk behind me at night, and my dog will turn around and walk backwards to make sure they do not get any closer(and I cannot get him turned around.)
