Nice pics of some not so nice neighbours. Good looking deer there and he seems to like the camera. I hope he likes your bow just as much. Good luck with your new spot. :)

I am not that brave  I just learned to deal with the dark as it is. Lots of action though and you wont be bored in that stand

I have had the wolf pass under a different hunting stand a couple years ago, at least I think it was the same one. It also passed within 5 yds of my brothers ground blind but kept on going. Fortunately both encounters were during gun season so we were well equiped in case it got too frisky.

I was really shocked to see the bobcat pic. My dad used to trap them, along with other cats, beaver, etc when I was small and we lived in Princeton BC. I don't see many this far south and that is the first one I have run into up in the hills. I saw another one last summer in Blytheville AR just pop straight up out of the grass about 20 ft away to go after something. I thought I was seeing things but we had it on security camera crossing the road a week later.

I have heard about cougar and bear sightings but I have yet to see either one outside of the Rockies of AB or BC.

Bet I keep my ruger close at hand from here on out though.

What makes you think that's a timber wolf and not a coyote? Gary

Certainly possible as I don't profess to be an expert in either species, but it seemed to be awfully large for the coyotes I have normally seen in the area.

The first time I had seen wolves in this area a couple years ago I assumed they were coyotes but they had also passed by several other hunters including a retired conservation officer who all seemed to agree that they were wolves rather than coyotes.

Either way they sure scatter the deer as they pass through.

There's a lot of interbreeding that goes on between coyotes and wolves. Lots of hybrids.

In eastern Canada 50 years ago, we had a long standing and stable population of what we called "brush wolves", which were very large coyote x wolf hybrids. Recently, the smaller southern coyotes have moved in and are breeding with them to produce everything from big to small coyotes. Now they could be 10% wolf or 90% wolf.
