I can lay claim to 2 sets of antlers; the others belong to buddies. There's actually 4 sets of antlers in there (can anyone spot the 4th one?).

I went alligator hunting a few years ago down in Florida with a buddy of mine that was a nuisance alligator trapper down there. We got 4 the day I went around with him, but I didn't get to keep anything off of the ones we got that day because they still had to be skinned and processed up. He gave me the head off of one that he had gotten a few days before though and some meat he already had in the freezer.

Down there, the way he would clean the skulls up was to bury them in the ground. The ants and other insects would eat all of the flesh off in pretty short order. He said I could either do that or soak it in water for about a month to get the flesh off. Since I didn't want to bury it and take a chance on something digging it up, I put the skull in a tub of water and let it sit. Now bear in mind, this was during July. I've smelled different critters rotting, but that alligator head was an entirely different stench. The boy went down to the barn to get something sometime during the summer while it was "processing". He came out gagging and about puked! Most of the time, the wind blew down away from the house, but every now and then it would switch and blow the "aroma" up toward the neighbor's house. They kept wondering what in the world was making such a smell and couldn't figure it out. I just played dumb.
