Guys help me out, I'm torn

Post by lswoody »

Been looking at the Brown Bear Exomax package and that is really what I want. Plan to get a dozen carbon firebolts to go with it and get a stringer and an extra excel string too. But at the same time I been checking out the Exiom Package which shoots slower and I can get for $100-$150 less than the Exomax. I want whatever I get to be my very last crossbow that I ever buy for myself. I feel like that If I buy the Axiom that in about 10yrs. or so that new models will be much faster and I will feel like I need to buy one of the newer faster models. Money is kind of an issue but not that much. But at the same time I'm thinking I can buy other hunting stuff or fishing stuff with the $100 or so $$s that I don't spend if I get the Axiom. I know this is a personal decision and I'll have to decide for myself, but just wondering if anyone else has been at this same place and how did you decide and what did you end up getting???? Thanks!!!!!!

I can't choose fer you, Now just how important is fps to you ? I shot an older vixen fer some yrs that on its best day with lightest arrows only got 250 fps. I killed a couple truck loads of deer. I never felt under bowed heck i sold the E'cet 200 i had & kept the Vixen. If'en have to have that speed then get the big pounder Bear. Heck i would watch fer a used E'cet & grab it, 330 fps plenty fast n tuff model

Brown bear-- limited quantities, cool brown finish, harder on servings and the back if shooting alot. Great for hunting but ONLY SLIGHTLY LESS ideal if target shooting ALOT

Axiom: "Budget bow", but not less of a bow because of it, plenty fast enough to kill anything you may encounter unless you go to Africa and shoot elephants inline. Cock and load, fire & repeat. no hot tub needed afterwards.

Both are lifetime bows because thats how exclaibur takes care of their customers.

Whichever bow is more comfotable for you is all you need to know. It doesnt matter which one you pick because as has been said already, it is a lifetime bow. They change but that never means what out grandfathers used did not down a deer or a bear. I have a Vixen now and the first I got was a used Wolverine. Either was good enough to get a deer, the Vixen however is lighter and easier for me as a gal.

Will you only hunt with it? Any idea how much you'll shoot in a year?

with the Brown bear be prepared to reserve when worn out.

The axiom will be easier on the serving and go through any whitetail you encounter.

Save the money for extras as you see fit.

If you are only useing it for hunting and some
practise, I don't think the heavy poundage
would be an issue. Then the extra cash you save on
the Axiom, will come in handy

Both bows will serve you well

I like the used Excet idea

Get either synthetic bows. So far they have been pretty much trouble free. For just hunting it will last the lifetime of the person you hand it down to.

My thoughts as I recently went through the same thing and bought a Vortex instead of an Axiom were that I was looking at less than a $100 difference. I was getting the metal rails instead of composit material and also getting an adjustable scope upgrade over the Axiom and the D bars. I got my package for $618 shipped and I am pretty sure the BB package is on ebay for $599 shipped right now.

youve already answered your own question  . you said you want the brown exomax. that color set up is a special run. youll always be kicking yourself down the road. if your worried about speed or future improvements to xbows your never gonna win as technology is always gonna change.in the future just buy a second xbow at that point or sell what you have . i doubt your gonna wanna part with the exomax brown bear though at that point.

Hmmm, that's a tough one right there. Both bows will no doubt serve you well but it sounds to me like you have a strong hankerin for the Brown Bear. Go with it. :)
