Stolen Trail Cam Recovered

Post by Boomer »

My camera was stolen from our family farm last October. The camera was attached to the tree by the back clips. They ripped the camera off the tree breaking the clips off. Yesterday I was doing a search on Kijiji for hunting stuff and there was an ad for trail camera with a 8 gb SD card. I called the ad and ask the make and he wasn't sure. I asked what was the matter with it and he said the back clips were broken off. I asked to meet to see it because I was still interested. We meet last night and low and behold there was my camera. Same SD card, the camera name was still program it and the serial number. I told him it was stolen and I'm taking it and if he had a problem we can get the police. Of course he bought it from a friend and he thought it was stolen. He was honest with me about him know it was stolen and did have much to say. I told him to tell the person he bought it from if they are found on the property, next time they won't be so lucky. One for the good guys!!

Wow... Well done. Its not often you get something back like that.
I'd still like to know who took it. Its sad that we live in a time where we need game cams to keep and eye on our game cams

The look on his face must have been priceless !! Love it when you catch a thief --- probably should have set the law on him .

He looked like a deer caught in the headlights. I gave him the choice if the police were going to be involved. He came clean right away. I'm happy with the outcome. Things could have went bad very easily. I still have his phone number and licence plate if I need it.

Here is something for thought. There are many different recovery programs on the internet for free. Even if the thief's picture has been deleted from the memory card, there is a good possibility that you can recover it with these programs. Who knows that you might just find the picture of the person you bought it from.

Good luck and glad you got it back.

Cops should heve been there.- tell Him.
YOU are taking the fall for your buddy, YOU will have the "record" and if you don`t like it, don`t buy stolen.
It stops trading stolen, using excuses for each other.

Great detective work, glad you got it back, though minus the brackets. I also would have put a little pressure on the guy like telling him your OTHER trail cam in the woods got some GREAT pic's of him so he better keep his arse out of your woods.

I'm glad you were able to get your camera back without incident, I find it sad people steal things of this nature, what ever happened to honor? :?

Good news man, glad you got it back

No doubt the guy who listed it was the one who took it.
