Nockturnal Crossbow nocks / JUNK

Post by Farmer »

Was at the local archery shop this morning and spotted a new product on the shelf . A lit nock from a company called nockturnal . Shop owner said he had used them in his vertical bow and they worked great , just needed the tip of you knife to turn them off . Sounded like a good idea .

Well I can tell you they will NOT be on the arrows in my quiver this fall !

Problem # 1 does not say ( on the package ) what arrow it fits , nothing notta , just that is a flat back crossbow nock . ( did not fit 2216 aluminum id of shaft was to big , Beman Thunder bolt worked but snug )

Problem # 2 easy off switch . Just use the tip of your knife . Well I call BS . I ruined 1 trying to turn it off . Tried my knife . O - ring pick , ball point pen , etc .(

Check the website to see if there are better instruction than the package ---- of course, what do I find ....new website coming soon .

http://www.nockturnal.com/

I then tried the email address for the company , what else . That does not work either

My advice would be to stay with what I know works ----- Firenock , or Luminock .

These Nockturnals are going to the trash .

Agree. Junk! I tried with my verticle bow and had all kinds of problems. They broke easy, wouldn't light etc. I'll never use them again.

Got 3 for crossbow recently. Diameter a tad small for 2219 shaft, but a little nail polish, hard acrylic, with a few coatings solved that easily. Well, on first try from my Exocet, string jumped under nock, stripped cock vane off, dry fire, first time ever happened to me.

I'm not the only one seeing issue with this for flat style nock crossbow.

Folks, be warned. Now yes, I was using their nock with a shaft a tad larger in Dia than the nock , but hey, seems the design lends itself to string slipping off of nock, that darn little button sticking out from surface of nock, my guess, causes it.

I couldn't find my arrow to inspect it, but finally did once sun was high in the sky. You can see a little rub mark/rounding on the low edge (I use cock vane with diff color) of the nock.

Exocet seems fine. No more nockturnal for me. Lumenoks have been ok for me, but I thought I'd try the nockturnal with its solid mounting over the "movable" lumenok.

Just had to share. Be careful if u r using nockturnals, and I cannot recommend them at all.
