That would probably be legal where "baiting" is not. Might even be less expensive than baiting where it is legal.

I haven't priced corn yet this year, but I did order a new feeder that should take less $$$ to keep operating. Dumps appx. 4# a day instead of giving the critters access to 100# (in my old gravity feeder) to eat as they desire. I've actually seen days where almost 100# was consumed!

I looked at the Pennco feeder and like the design. Dumps 2# of corn on each cycle. I'm close to ordering the 1 dump in 24 hours model and mount it to a 20 gallon plastic barrel. If anyone has one of the Pennco's, how well does it work?

Last price I got was $8.50 per 50 lb in April from local farmer. Will be getting updated prices soon. I'm putting up feeders to keep from having to buy so much also. Last season put out 1.5 tons.

Prices in Arkansas are crazy; 12.00 for 40 pounds (clean) and farmers here have already stated that the price for a bushel of corn from the field will be 9.00 IF the price doesn't go up anymore; we are feeding sweet potatoes here; 30.00 a ton and the deer love them; we are experiencing the WORST drought in over 50 years; there will be no acrons either and all food plots will have to be re-planted...IF... we get rain in September.

When corn prices went wild - we switched to apples .

Even pears and all seconds directly from orchards will bring in all sorts of critters begging for sustanance !

Good luck and hope prices drop or we will toss in some alfalfa just for sport !!!

Price this week was $9.50 per 50 lb cleaned at local grain business. You can get drums filled with uncleaned corn for $50, about 350 lb but can't put it in spin feeders. Someone said wholesale in the field had gone to $8.25 per bushel so it will likely continue to increase. :?

I finally bought 5 custom build timer-spin feeders this week and got them set up to keep from using so much corn and save gas money.

Because of the bad apple crop this year! we have have raised our price on deer apples from $8 a bushel to $12 because of the cold snap in the spring which resulted in Ontario loosing 80% --90% of the crop!

Not many apples here Maybe one tree is 12 have apples and not many. Mast crop is non existent. Latest news is even with the rain now the corn crop is all but ruined which will cause a severe price increase in most food stuff.

Going to be a tough year for bowhunters to feed the deer. I'm looking at dry granola that is sold as bear bait Problem is it will attrack the bears more than the deer, Horse feed is real pricey. Going to be a tough hunting season!

no tractor and equipment needed. just a good iron rake, spreader, strong back
an lottsa cold beer............

I know a local apple orchard that got destroyed by the golf ball sized hail we received two times in two weeks.
