My first black bear!!!

Post by goosesmasher »

I just got home from my first successful black bear hunt. It was awesome and its amazing how an animal so big can just appear like a ghost. I knew he was a big one for sure when I shot but I had no idea he would tip the scales at 402 pounds!! I made a perfect heart shot on him with my exomax and my powerbolt tipped with a 175gr. slick trick crossbow broadhead was devastating to the bear.Complete passthrough and the bear only went 55 yards. The broadhead exited the chest and then slammed into the front leg deflecting off the bone and still passing through again. The blood trail was the easiest I've ever followed too. He's just an awesome beast and I don't know if I'll ever shot a bigger one.I super happy with him! The only bad part is the huge taxidermy bill I'm going to have.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! A GREAT BEAR!!
I have hunted Bear for many years, and can tell you first hand that 9 times out of 10 they will sneak in without you hearing a sound!!!
When I use to spot and stock they sometimes would circle around behind and come back to see what was following them. Now that got your hair standing on end!!!

Now I am pumped for my Bear hunt on Sep 04th!!!

Using the OMEGA M/L though  . Trying to convince the outfitter to move the bait pile closer than 45yards!!!
A touch of frost has heightened your awareness and your heart steadily beats in anticipation. Your senses are suddenly alert to the movement on the forest floor and you realize that the moment of truth is at hand.
