Arrow retainer arm goof

Post by mchurch »

I was changing the string on my vortex when the string changing tools string hopped up over the arrow retaining arm and flattened it. Can I just bend it back up, and how far? Is there any right or left adjustment that I need to make?

Is the arrow retainer arm completely flattened down?

Yeah, you can just bend it back up. To get the amount of flex needed for the bend though, you may have to take the scope mount / scope off the side of the trigger assembly box.

Figure out where it's bent at where it shouldn't be that's causing it to touch the rail and concentrate your reverse bends there until you've got it straightened back out and raised back up.

I did the same thing once . . .bend it back.

Hmmmm, sounds familiar. I did the same thing the first time I went to twist string for brace height. Got it bent back without having to remove any h'dware.

I did something similiar last year while trying to cock my bow in the dark one morning while hunting. I just took the scope mount off and bent it back up.

Just take a pair of needle nose pliers to it, shoot for a big 1/4" or small 5/16 from hold down to rail.

This method is a lot faster than removing scope mount and doesn't change you poi much, if any...........

For the ones bent up to high, use an arrow [carbon] across the front of scope taper..........

I bent mine too. Somebody on here suggested using a small block of wood. Put it underneath the retainer and slide it back toward the trigger assembly. That worked for me. Bent it back just right.
