Did I do something wrong to get this??

Post by tsc »

I've emailed Excalibur and asked for their opinion, but I thought I'll post it here to see what everyone else thinks.

I bought my Exomax last Nov (I didn't get to open it until Christmas Day). I assembled it and have placed about 50 shots through it since then and to be honest, I've never really paid that much attention to the fit/finish until today. Everything is Excalibur factory original (I got the Right Stuff kit with the bow). I've never owned a crossbow before, so I don't know if this is a problem or not.

Anyway, the left limb is showing voids/pockets on the outside. It starts under the dissipator pads and goes out to about 3/4 of the length of the limb. The Right limb is smooth and flawless.

My first thought was I joined "the club" aka the dry fire club. But I have not dry fired it or poor storage (heat). But It hangs in my basement, away from a heat register (and no direct sunlight) and when I go to the range to shoot it, it sits in the rear bench seat of my truck, away from the heater ducts. I've had it sit in the sun, while shooting/retrieving arrows on a sunny day, but never in an enclosed space like a vehicle.

Here is a link to some pictures. Sorry for the blurry/graininess.

Any input would be appreciated.

That's normal to see. Because of the way the limbs are made (not ground) there are lots of tiny air voids. All of my bows have them, some more than others and it will not impact the performance whatsoever.

Awesome. Thank you for the quick replies.

I feel so much better (even more so, since I let my daughter shoot it too).
