game cam working better

Post by wabi »

A while back I posted some pics taken with my Bushnell cam when I thought it was about in need of replacement. Daytime pics were really washed out with light.
I cleaned the lens and it helped some, but it was rapidly getting worse.
Even the good daylight pics were poor quality -

Well, this week I really had a senior moment.
I left the camera out of the case & open overnight and it rained.
Brought it home and decided to open up the case and see if it was ruined. It was damp inside, but seemed to be functioning so I put a fan blowing on it for a couple hours & dried it out.
While I had it apart I noticed a "filter" lens that is on a pivot that can move. (changes position for day or night pics?)
The filter was dusty, so I cleaned it and the internal camera lens.
Pulled the card this morning and the daytime pics look a little better (at this time of day the camera is aimed toward the sun) -

Night pics are about the same -

A few evening pics (night mode on the camera, but still sunlight from the direction the camera faces) were way too bright, but that's always been a problem. Morning pics under similar conditions (cam in night mode, but some sunlight) were not too bad -

BTW - those 3 deer are "regulars"

X@ Lot better shots. A little bit of rain and a good cleaning gave you the camera it should have been before, :) . That was a nice fix, :) .
