TAKE HEED, PAY ATTENTION TO THIS WARNING.........

Post by xbowholic »

The one thing that I appreciate about this forum is that we are NOT trophy minded; so much surrounds the hunting world about trophy bucks, how to grow them, "pass on them, let'em grow" what did he score, you should have let him grow another year, ect ect; we are fixing to see things that have NEVER been seen before; has anyone notice the price of groceries lately? have you seen what meat prices are doing? trust me, they are through the roof and because of the MAJOR drought we had this year, the price of food will do nothing but climb higher and higher; not trying to scare anyone, but better put as much meat as possible in the freezer; learn how how to "can" deer meat and other animals as much as possible;

Be like vixenmaster, stack'em like cordwood and know how to put them up for food; it WILL come in handy.

Why do you think I've already got 2 in the freezer, plus a bunch of squirrels? :wink: I've only got 2 more tags and I plan to fill them as well. The sooner I can do that, the sooner I can concentrate totally on squirrel hunting. :wink: "Proudly protecting America from the savage buck-toothed hordes of the forest." :wink:

Don't know about a medal, but I've got a shirt for it. :wink: Someone's gotta do it, and I'm proud to volunteer my services to my country for it. :D

I was prepared this morning to fill one tag but it didn't come about. Saw one buck as I was going in, he was eating acorns in the edge of the field. I saw a scrape that was worked this morning as I was coming back out. So the temps are suppose to drop tonight and I hope to be on the stand in the morning to see what I might be able to do tomorrow. I'm low on deer meat right now .

I was all set to hold off and pass on the two button bucks hitting the feeder daily, then I read Big58cal's recipe - Porblano and Pepper Jack Cheese Stuffed Backstrap. Now I've decided my son should probably take an easy one for his first crossbow deer, so I'm going to let him whack one of them if the opportunity arises. I'm just guessing, but I'll bet those backstraps would really be tender. :lol: :lol:

Between the two of us we should fill the freezer and the pantry shelves with meat this year. We could take 6 deer (only 1 "antlered") apiece if we wanted to buy all the tags. He can buy "either sex" tags for half the price I have to pay, so I'm going to let him do a lot of the shooting. :shock:

You're so weak. :lol: :lol:

Actually, I can't say as I blame you. I did basically the same thing opening morning. I was prepared to sit all day and wait on a good buck. That pretty much went out the window just as soon as that doe got in a spot to give me a shot. :wink: As they say, "Patience my ass! I'm gonna kill something!"
