Caldwell tripod

They were Advertising A tripod for shooting that is portable and looks like it would work great for crossbows. They had it on the wild channel.

Also I think it would be great for my 8 year old since holding up the crossbow to shoot is pretty tough without some sort of shooting rail.
Pros:
Easy set up.
Very very stable.
Makes a great portable rifle bench rest also.

Cons:
Only one I have noticed is range of motion when sitting in a bag chair. For some shots I would have to pick up and move the whole tripod. If on a foodplot where you know where a deer will probably show I doubt this would be a problem. In deep woods where I hunt they can show up anywhere anytime. I might get a chair that swivles for next year.

I bought one from Cabelas for just that reason. Even with a light weight youth model rifle it is hard for the boys to hold it steady with out a shooting rail. So far it has worked great target shooting. I wish I had used one years ago.

In a blind for rifle and x-bow I use one of these from Crappy tire.

http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/6 ... ?locale=en

They fold up to the size of a 2x4 and have a carrying handle. They come on sale all the time for around $12

Now for when I am not in a blind a tripod my be in my future.
