Dad's Morning Buck

Post by GooGoos »

Well this morning dad && I went to a new spot that he found last season. I didn't even bring my gun with me, just my tree stand and the video camera. After a half mile walk into the woods, we pick a tree we both can climb; I climb first then dad under me. Right after it got light, I had to put on a sweater because it was cold this morning. It was dead all morning and only heard a few shots. Well about 0930hrs, dad says at 1000hrs were gunna call it a morning if we don't get one. About 15minutes later, the squirrels start raising hell out in front of me. Then I hear dad say thats either a really small deer or a bobcat; and sure enough a big ole, fat bobcat comes trotting across the open bottom into the pine flat. We watch were the bobcat went into and hoped we would see a deer or hog run out of where the bobcat went into. It wasn't 5 minutes later I hear dad say " That's a shooter!" Then I see him pick up his black powder and look into the scope. I look out into the pine flat and I see diddly squat! Then dad goes "That's a good looking buck!" I look at him and he points out where the deer is. I pull the camera out and get it going. Not a few seconds after I turn the camera on, BOOM!! Smoke goes everywhere, We see the deer jump, flip, and fall. I am telling him congrats and hitting fists. We climb outta the tree and find the deer and see it's a basket rack 7 point. Should have been an 8 point, but one of his points broke off from fighting.
