Think I made a boo boo!

Post by DaGriz »

I believe I made a mistake by posting this tale of my hunt here! I should know better as the naysayers and doubter have started with the PM's. I would delete it but there are good people here who liked reading about my afternoon hunt

For the naysayers and doubters:

With my friend coming with me to took 15 minutes to trail both deer. One was 35yds from where we parked The big one was closer to 200 yds How the arrows managed to go through the lungs of the second one is beyond me . My friends and I were surprised by that! I field dressed the big one and my friend dragged it out to the truck for me, while I field dressed the smaller one. Second friend got there and dragged the small one out. Whole deal took less than an hour and a half. Both deer were legally tagged. I DO NOT violate game laws; intentionally!!
I live less than 3 miles from where I hunt, my friend who always helps me lives
kiddy corner from me. I shot the deer about 2:20 and was home with the big deer at 6:30.
I don't take pictures of any critters unless they are exceptionally good trophys
I don't need pictures to prove what happened and I don't usually justify what I have done

I don't know why I bother to post anything here. There seems to always somebody who has to make snide remarks and innuedos.

Another lesson learned: I won't bother posting about my hunts or anything else on this forum!

Went hunting this afternoon because I had pictures of deer coming to my blind at 2:00pm I wasn't there an hour and five deer showed up. (Let me preface this by saying I am a meat hunter and will not shoot a buck unless it is extraordinary large)
One deer left almost immediately and the other four were feeding I watched for the biggest doe to present me with the right sot. After about 10 minutes or so she did so I put the smack down on her Watched my lighted knock arrow go whistling through her. After a few minutes I went to look for the arrow Search as I may I couldn't find it. Figured it was under the long grass so I walked through the field to find the blood trail where she went into the woods. Got to edge of the woods and found two separate blood trails. It appears I went through the doe and hit the deer behind her. Shame on me for not paying attention to where the other deer were in relation to her. Since I am hunting only 6 minutes from home I came home to get my friend and we will go back and sort out the situation. I need help to drag and dress a deer anyway as I can't hardly drag a big deer more than 10 feet and these went into some really thick brush
More to follow!

The follow up.

Went back with my friend and we followed one blood trail About 150yds in was the big doe taking a dirt nap. She was hot through both lungs Blood trail was terrific. Had a tough time getting her out as the brush was extremely thick. Got her to the truck and went back to take the second blood trail Didn't go 25yds and there was the second deer taking a dirt nap Shot through both lungs also Unfortunately it was a little buck with about 1" spikes I felt and still feel bad about it but I didn't shoot it on purpose. I should have paid attention to all the deer instead of concentrating on the biggest one.
Got if field dressed and called a friend who came and took it so no waste

Lesson learned is: Pay Attention to all the deer, even after picking the one you want!

Good to hear you recovered both of them!
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What broadhead were you shooting?

I've had a few opportunities with two deer standing beside each other, but always figured it was far too risky to try "on purpose".
